The Story Behind the Patterns

Hi, I'm Kathryn, a surface pattern designer and artist creating hand-drawn wallpaper and surface patterns inspired by the quiet beauty of nature, antique textiles, and beautifully weathered surfaces.

My work is rooted in a love of organic texture, timeless design, and the character that only time can create. Whether I'm sketching wild botanicals, heritage-inspired florals, or classic plaids and stripes, every pattern begins by hand in my sketchbook or on my iPad, where layered brushwork and subtle imperfections give each design its distinctive warmth and depth.

Although I began my career in Creative Arts Therapy, surface pattern design has become my true creative home. It brings together my love of drawing, storytelling, and thoughtfully crafted interiors in a way that feels both deeply personal and endlessly inspiring.

Many of my ideas begin outdoors. Time spent exploring trails, gardens, and changing seasons with my family continually shapes the textures, colors, and natural details that find their way into every collection.
